About Me

Hey, I’m osifu

I learn by building, breaking, and repairing—then documenting the path so it’s repeatable.

What I’m building

  • A self-hosted platform that feels like production:
    • MicroK8s cluster across 3 Intel NUCs, 2× RPi 4, 2× RPi 5
    • GitLab CE on an iMac (2015) behind Cloudflare Tunnel
    • OpenTofu + Packer for immutable hosts; ArgoCD/Flux for GitOps
    • Observability with Prometheus/Grafana/Loki, Runtime security with Falco
    • Core apps: Home Assistant, Pi-hole, Jellyfin/media stack
    • Experiments with open-source LLMs as local copilots

How this site ships

  • Astro + Tailwind v4 (via @tailwindcss/vite)
  • Built with pnpm in GitLab CI
  • Deployed to Cloudflare Workers (Static Assets) with Wrangler
  • Branch model: develop → staging.osifu.me, main → osifu.me

Principles I work by

  • Computers should belong to people. I favor tech that returns control to the user—no dark patterns, no lock-in.
  • Fight centralization. I build and fund things that frustrate platform consolidation; self-hosting first, federation when possible.
  • User sovereignty. Prefer designs where I can self-manage my own services and data (“sovereign cloud” mindset).
  • Sustainable open source. Good software should be open to scrutiny and tinkering—and creators should be able to make a living.
  • Privacy with integrity. Respect users by minimizing data collection and being transparent if any telemetry exists.
  • Realism about big tech. Oligopolies form; I design for portability so switching costs stay low.

Repair as practice

  • Perseverance: Small steps, repeated daily, redraw the map.
  • Kintsugi mindset: Cracks aren’t flaws—they’re the story of repair.
  • Gratitude: Notice, name, and keep what is good.
  • Tinkering > Theory: Ship, measure, improve.

Interests & tools

Kubernetes • GitOps • CI/CD • Cloudflare Zero Trust • Homelab networking • IaC • TypeScript • Go (sometimes) • Bash • YAML • Monitoring & SLOs • Home automation
